Investors may attempt to get your house under contract in order to sell it to another buyer for a higher price. They may also present you with a lease option and allow renters to live in your home for a certain amount of time with the option to purchase. In order to protect yourself from these bad deals and shady investors, always ask for a prequalification letter or a letter from the bank stating the investor has the funds available to purchase the property at the full listing price.

#2 - MLS AGENTS
The MLS (Multiple Listing Service) is the platform that real estate agents have exclusive access to when listing a property. #3 - REAL ESTATE AGENTS
If your house is listed For Sale By Owner (FSBO), you will likely be contacted by real estate agents who will offer to list your property. Even if you don't want to list with an agent, always keep the peace, because the same agent may contact you later while representing a buyer. If you want to deter buyers' agents from calling you and encourage buyers to come to you directly, add a clause in your property description that states the listing price does not include a real estate agent commission and a commission must be added on to the purchase price.

Watch out for any suspicious or unusual activity while your property is listed. Never click on unfamiliar links in an email, text, or private message sent to you in response to your property listing. Another common scam involves asking the homeowner to "verify their listing" by providing a confirmation code. Never provide a confirmation code to another person or website unless you initiated it yourself by attempting to login to a familiar website such as Google or Facebook.
